INTRO TO ANGELS

If, believing that Angels really even exist, we ask ourselves many questions that may come up
What are they and what do they really look like? I have never seen an Angel but can only go
from the descriptions of others, including biblical accounts of their appearances.
The term, Angel, itself means "messenger". The Bible tells us that all things were created by God, including his heavenly hosts we know better by the name of Angels. Angels are created beings. They are not divine beings, or mini-gods. You'll find many instances in the Bible where men and women were told not to bow down to Angels. Of course, this is usually the first reaction of people to whom Angels have appeared and would be my reaction as well, I'm sure. I'm also sure that the being would again have to tell me the same thing as all the others:

As for what Angels look like, there is always an ongoing debate about a great many issues concerning Angels, and their appearance is no different. Angels are corporeal beings without physical bodies, yet they can appear that way. They have been reported as being seen with wings, as most of us imagine them, but they also appear without wings. Angels do have different shapes, sizes, colors, and styles. No two of them look alike. A biblical description of Lucifer in Ezekiel 28 tell us that they have beauty beyond human comprehension with no human words to accurately describe them. Many times, Angels appear to humans as human themselves or they appear as pure light energy. They do not, however, appear as animals like fallen angels do. Angels are intelligent beings. They possess a far greater intelligence than that of man but nothing close to that of God. Angels do have limitations. They are not omnicient. Angels can move very fast and apparently fly, but they can not be in more than one place at any one time like the Holy Spirit of God can. Angels display emotion which is known by the way they sing and rejoice in Heaven (see Luke 15:10). Angels have free will. What a coincidence, so do we humans! Angels in Heaven actually chose to sin, thus becoming demons. This being said, it is fair for us to believe that they have their own personalities too. These Angels have great power as displayed several times throughout Scripture, but they are not omnipotent (2 Pet. 2:11). These are some of the differences between Angels and humans, yet mankind was made "a little lower then the Angels for a short time". It is not Angels who will inherit the Kingdom of God, but mankind. So it seems fitting that they have so much concern for us humans! They are always in the service of God acting out as messengers in various ways. Let's take a look at what they do.
